Team Up

Team Up

If you find that you have Spring Resolutions that fade away as quickly as the frost melts in the morning.... this is the time to decide which of your dreams are just passing fancy and which are true heart’s desires.

Sometimes all you need is a little help, positive encouragement or a friend to help you reach your desired outcome. You probably even know of a person whom is just right, to help you through the rough spots and troubling times of getting you through to successful achievement, and by asking for their help, you might even discover you share a common purpose. It’s tough enough trying to change things about yourself and your lifestyle without having to do it alone...

So Team Up with a partner, family member, friend, life coach or instructor to get you started in the right direction, motivated to stay on track and who will support and encourage you for the duration!

Spring Updates

  • Dear Mands, I was struggling to walk twice a week, never mind reach my goal of walking 5 km’s three times a week. I met a friend of a friend and we got chatting, and discovered that we both walked the same route, just on different days. I remembered your suggestion of finding someone to walk with me, and so we decided to team up and walk together. We have been walking 5 km’s three times a week for two months now, only compromising on which days of the week we walk, according to what best suits our schedules. I also found that even on the days I didn’t feel like walking, I went anyway because my friend was waiting for me. Thanks Ilze

  • Hiya - this week "teamed-up" with my dogs and went for a walk - not only did I get excercise, but so did they and I did not feel vulnerable walking in the streets for a change...... grin! -- Bevskins!

    What a great idea, Thanks!

Lessons We Learn From Geese
-- Author Unknown

Next fall [ or Autumn ] when you see geese heading South for the [ Winter ]... (In the Northern Hemisphere).... Or Spring when you see the geese returning to the Southern Hemisphere for the Summer... flying along in V formation... you might consider what science has discovered as to Why they fly that way:

  • Fact 1: As each goose flaps its wings it creates an "uplift" for the birds that follow. By flying in a "V" formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

Lesson: People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are traveling on the thrust of one another.

  • Fact 2: When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird immediately in front of it.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as a goose we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.

  • Fact 3: When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.

Lesson: It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks and sharing leadership. As with geese, people are interdependent on each other's skills, capabilities and unique arrangements of gifts, talents or resources.

  • Fact 4: The geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Lesson: We need to make sure honking is encouraging. In groups where there is encouragement the production is much greater. The power of encouragement (to stand by one's heart or core values and encourage the heart and core of others) is the quality of honking we seek.

  • Fact 5: When a goose gets sick, wounded, or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help and protect it. They stay with it until it dies or is able to fly again. Then, they launch out with another formation or catch up with the flock.

Lesson: If we have as much sense as geese, we will stand by each other in difficult times as well as when we are strong.
