Responsibility!
Being responsible means taking responsibility for your thoughts, your words and your actions. It means you are consciously aware of the thoughts and feelings you have without blaming someone else or your circumstances for what you think or how you feel.
It’s understanding how you respond to what is said to you and to events and happenings in your life.
One of the first things you need to be able to make changes in yourself and to your life is to understand how you respond in your relationships and to your environment.
If you eat a second helping of chocolate pudding, do you take responsibility for your action and really enjoy and savour your eating experience, or do you blame the cook for making such a yummy dessert? Do you think about what you are doing or do you just eat anything you want - overindulging with the philosophy, ‘eat, drink and be merry.... because tomorrow is another day!’
If you are late for an appointment, are you apologetic or do you make excuses blaming your behaviour on the traffic and the dozen driver’s who cut you off or the lousy road system we have to contend with?
Are you accountable for your behaviour, by being aware of your thoughts, being conscious of what you say to others, and being decisive and determined in the things that you do?
Do you take time to consider what you are doing by making the choice between what is right for you in that present moment, or just doing what you think you should or what you think someone else wants you to do?
Being responsible for yourself gives you options and a wide range of choices - empowering you in body, mind and spirit!
