Have you ever had to shop for an outfit for a special occasion? I have a few times in my life.... *Grin* ....sometimes I find the perfect outfit, that looks great on me, and makes me feel good.... sometimes I even find that special classic outfit that I can wear over and over again... and with different accessories and shoes, it looks even better each time I wear it.

Some people have seen Michelangelo's statue of David, and some have just seen a photograph.... Like I have! (Have you?). Did you know that Michelangelo's statue of David stands 17 feet tall? (I never knew that! Guess I do now *Grin*). That's one awesome tall David Dude Statue!

July 2006 - Recovery!
June started out really well for me, however I developed just a slight cough and snivel. Deciding that I had too much to do, and wanting to get some important tasks finished and projects completed, I decided to use a little 'mind over matter'. Initially this worked and I managed to get some things finished. Then my Body rebelled and I found myself caught in the grips of terrible flu, having to surrender and stay in bed. The physical weakness I felt leaving me unable to do anything except lie in bed and rest, however frustrating......

15th May 2006, Memories of Motherhood
On Sunday morning the 7th May, my daughter woke in a panic, exclaiming she had ‘forgotten’ Mother’s Day... and how could she do that, I was such a wonderful Mom! Since everyone else in the family was still sleeping peacefully, I quietly reassured her that Mother’s Day was only the following week, and she still had plenty of time to prepare, especially since she is such an amazing daughter ;o).

April 2006 - Autumn ...WhyWeight
A few weeks ago, a woman walking towards me on the beachfront wore a T-shirt with a big, bold slogan that read 'WIP' - at my age it's hard to be innocent, so the innuendo of the slogan made me *Grin* unabashedly in response. Until she approached a little closer, and I read the 'small print', which then changed the significance of the statement entirely as it read......

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

How do you DECIDE to live, not just HOPE to live it to the fullest? How do you live in the NOW and not just STAY in the present? • Open your cage….
How often in life we get thrown a series of curve balls, that lumped together, seem to form a heavy web around us, and the more we struggle to cope with each ball, the tighter the web seems to hold onto us. • Lets Pretend
As I am writing this, I am lying outside in the garden watching Tyla (my 14-month old daughter) playing in a giant plastic clam shell, surrounded by beach toys (with no beach or beach sand in sight!)  and I realise that it's just not as fun as the real thing for me, but it does not seem to make any difference to Tyla...

  • My 1/2 day, 24/7 life!
Seven years ago before my son was given to us to brighten our days and awaken our nights, I worked in a full-day position. September 2005 - Spring Ideals
At the beginning of July, I updated the website, emailed the newsletter and set a goal to have all the articles I had chosen updated to the website by month-end. I decided to take a few days leave from work to have all the August articles and email newsletter completed before the first week in August, and even organised a weeks leave in August to complete my ‘To Do’ list for the website and have the September articles and email newsletter completed and ready to send by the 1st September.

July 2005 and the Winter Blue’s
If you are feeling blue from the shorter, colder days... you share this feeling with many others. In fact scientists now acknowledge that the ‘Winter Blues’ or SAD otherwise known as Seasonal Affective Disorder, is very real and affects about
10 million people per year. Whilst the effects are less severe in the Southern Hemisphere, and particularly South Africa, nevertheless people do suffer from feeling depressed, off balance, and struggle to be productive and positive in their normal working environment during the course of Winter.

WhyWeight.... Reach Out and Commitment!
I know it’s been three months since I last sent out a newsletter.... sometime in March I found myself struggling to write articles for the WhyWeight website and the various attempts I made to write the newsletter seemed innocuous at best. Writing articles and newsletters in the last four years has been a labour of love, something I really enjoy. I thrive on sharing my experiences, it gives me a thrill to share an insight or idea I have, and I love exploring the knowledge I have gained in my daily life on the website and through the newsletter. The feedback and emails I receive from you give me deeper insight and my enthusiasm and motivation expands.

Laughter
We share our ability to laugh with our fellow primates.
It's reported that Chimpanzees even 'laugh' when tickled - this behaviour is said to go back to the very earliest of times. Our ancestors - primitive man bared his teeth as a sign of aggression or warning. If you get caught in peak hour traffic and you watch the people around you, it's evident that we have more in common with our primitive ancestors then we would like to believe......
