Quieting!

Meditation is the art of quieting the mind’s chaotic thoughts and calming turbulent emotions by focusing on one thought or idea with focused concentration and intent.

Quieting your nervous system and nurturing yourself for a few minutes can save you hours of wasted anxiety, help avoid sudden blow-ups and hurtful confrontations and minimise stress and costly oversights.

When you quieten your mind and embrace physical stillness you connect with your deeper essence and find a clarity of being. To discover your true purpose you need to quieten your mind by just stilling all those chaotic thoughts and emotions and listen to your heart.

Breathing deeply is essential to quieting the mind and embracing stillness and calmness.

Place both feet flat on the floor or ground and let out a long slow breath. Imagine that the stress and anxiety that you feel pressing down on your like a heavy burden is draining through your body into the ground through the soles of your feet. Then slowly place your right hand on your heart and your left hand over your tummy. Breathe in slowly and deeply and silently think to yourself:

‘I am calm, relaxed and present.’

Repeat the affirmation as you breathe out slowly. Repeat the exercise very slowly five more times. Each time you breath in and breath out do so more slowly. Stretch the exercise to last for four or five minutes. You will find a stillness that slows down time and allows you to listen to your heart and find a depth of purpose.

Taking five minutes each day to quieten your mind and embrace stillness allows you to listen to your heart and connect to your deeper essence and purpose. Taking an hour a week to do the same will give you access to creative ideas to realise that purpose with passion and intent!
