Desperately Seeking Help!

One of our WhyWeight subscribers is getting married in February 2005.....
Congratulations Mariaan!
Mariaan is looking for a wedding dress and accessories that will compliment her lovely, voluptuous figure. If you know of shops or retailers that can help and that cater for the 'Large & Lovely' please email me: [
Mands ] - thanks!

I received this wonderful email from Mariaan:

Dear Mands,

Can't wait to read the new newsletter. I do have a small secret. We collected the ring from the jeweller yesterday and regrettably, now its got to stay in the safe till he can figure out how to ask me in a romantic way. Valentine's day is out unfortunately because we have a wedding to attend: ( So yes, YES YES YES YES - its almost official!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! giggle!

I stay in Alberton, Johannesburg.  I have been browsing on the net but there is no place where you can go look at these wedding dresses. The Multi flora’s of this world have absolutely horrrrrrrrrrible dresses. YUK! I would really appreciate it if you could put a little section on wedding dresses and accessories.

This year is going to be great.  Last year I had to undergo two stressful operations and this year, I am not planning on ever seeing the inside of a hospital.  I will be healthy, come hell or high water!

You know, I never thought that I could meet someone so special to me that accepts me for who I am. My parents always conditioned me and said that if you are fat nobody will ever want to love you and marry you. Well, newsflash for all the fat fanny's out there: Be yourself, love and respect yourself, then open yourself up for the possibility that somebody else can love you too.

For the last year I have been living on cloud 9! I am truly blessed.

I would really appreciate it, if the "PHAT" pages ( Large and Lovely section ) with all the lists of shops could come to life on your website.

Looking forward to your next exciting newsletter!

Big love
Mariaan

Hi Mariaan
I have emailed the WhyWeight January 2004 email newsletter so hopefully by the time you read this you will have read the newsletter ;o) and visited the website *grin*

Congratulations!

I also searched high and low and thought the wedding dresses were absolute yuck. At 5 feet 8 inches the dresses I tried on were about 2-4 inches toooooooo short. With frills and flounces everywhere! Whilst I believe everyone is unique - getting married is a extra special occasion and a special dress is needed for the bride of the moment. I am not a frills and flounce person believe you me and after six months of searching for a dress, I finally gave up and decided to have a dress made.... at great cost and expense, just two months before we got married. I was excited and happy, and looking forward to my dress being finished and arriving two days before the big event. When it did arrive and I tried it on just to make sure everything fitted, I discovered grease - black car grease and dirt all along the edge of the R250.00 per metre French imported lace with hand sewn pearls, (that might seem relatively inexpensive now, but was very expensive at the time). This was all to much for my 21 year old ego and I dissolved into tears. My groom of the moment raced to my rescue like a true knight in shining armour, sped the dress away to the local dry cleaners, where he discovered they wanted two weeks to clean a delicate garment like my beautiful wedding dress especially with car grease all over the bottom. Not to be deterred my knight in shining armour, convinced the dry cleaner to have a team clean my dress full-time over night.... for a cost of course. Hand in pocket he extracted the cash, with a bonus if it could be delivered Friday morning less then 24 hours before the big event.

Discouraged and heartbroken I was quite unbelieving of miracles and waited in exasperation to see what else could go wrong. None the less said dress was delivered on time, shiny and new without a mark on it.

My wedding was a wonderful day, and I have enjoyed the most amazing 15 and half years of marriage. I have kept my dress carefully packed away in special tissue and every now and again I take it out and experience the most wonderful flood of memories. My daughter Jess, in young eight year old innocence prevails upon me regularly to keep it, so that one day she might wear it on her big day..... maybe, ...who knows what could happen in the next 10 to 20 years to the fashion industry she might indeed actually wear.

So Mariaan, do not despair.... and be not deterred..... keep looking, keep asking and find that dress of your dreams.... even if you have to find someone to make a special dress for you..... buy some magazines, fantasize, visualise, stragegise.... giggle, laugh ..... dream and dare..... AND then find that dress.... or have it made.... *Grin*

I will write an article for the website and include an appeal in my next email newsletter.... lets stay positive!

Lots of Love, Light and abundance of Laughter
