Change..... Create & Creativity!
‘Change is as good as a holiday’, is one of those catch phrases that is used so often we seldom take notice anymore. Yet the essence of the statement is unquestionably true and founded with deep wisdom.
Sometimes, just the slightest change can create fear and anxiety. Usually the reason being that the changes that have been brought about are created by external circumstances or factors or another person. Our natural resistance or rebellion to external influence is a deep seated protective instinct. Although we seem to want to resist change in our normal, daily routine, we cope with change in a natural way on a daily basis. We might wake up in the morning and follow the same rituals, go to work following the same route, and do the same basic tasks ....everyday, yet we still deal with change, moment to moment all the time.
It’s how we react to those slight and almost unnoticed changes that sets the tone of our mood and our day. If the weather is warm and sunny are you calm and happy, or hot, sticky and grouchy? If the traffic is smooth and flowing are you relaxed and at ease, and do you get stressed in traffic jams allowing it to influence your mood and demeanour.
Change in all forms is inevitable, and so it should be. If we did exactly the same things every day, had exactly the same life circumstances and exactly the same experiences ever day, we would soon tire of all that sameness, and get bored quickly. When we implement our own changes we are usually more comfortable with the transition and transformation that is created, although external factors always come into play.
The challenge is to learn to be creative in the changes we make and creative in our reactions to external influences and changes. If you follow the same eating routine - three meals per day, eating at the same time every day, and you eat more or less the same things all the time, your body and metabolism will follow the same pattern, especially since it knows the routine so well.
Making a simple change by being more creative in what you eat, and when you eat it, can give your metabolism a kick start, and you will find it easier to burn off those extra grams. So if you have a salad for lunch and veggies and meat for dinner three times a week, just vary and change your routine, have veggies and meat for lunch once a week, and a salad for dinner twice a week and you will find the difference it makes amazing.
Instead of having yoghurt for breakfast ever other day, have it for lunch or dessert after dinner..... just get creative in your ideas!
One of my clients found the increase in his weight unacceptable and was confused by his weight gain, because he was eating and following the same eating patterns and routine that he had for the previous ten years. He decided that his work routine couldn’t include anymore time for exercise and so the changes he made had to be more creative. On a spurt of inspiration he decided to eat what he normally ate for breakfast at lunchtime, what he normally ate for lunch, he had for dinner, and he began to start his day at breakfast time with what he normally ate at dinner! Amazingly, his energy levels increased and he found himself more productive through the day, and the extra kilograms he had gained... eased off in just a couple of months!
You have the power to create and accomplish whatever body and life you want, so be creative and adventurous and try some new ideas!
