the season of Autumn....

in Ancient Chinese traditions, Autumn is linked with the element of Metal,
and begins at the Autumn Equinox, proceeding for six weeks to the start of Winter!
(21st - 23rd March to the 1st May in the Southern Hemisphere,
21st - 23rd September to the 1st November in the Northern Hemisphere).

The Autumn Equinox is a time of balance and harmony and when the day Light hours equal the night Darkness hours, and signals the start of Autumn. As each day passes during Autumn, so the daylight hours shorten and the dark night hours lengthen.
Autumn prepares us for the change from the warmth of Late Summer to the cold as we approach Winter. As the days get colder and shorter, the colours of the leaves alter even as the fruit on the trees ripen. Autumn is an invigorating time for the senses, with vivid colours, aromatic smells and delicious tastes... as Nature provides the last of her bounty in the Late Harvest of fresh fruit and vegetables, which are in rich supply.

Autumn is the time to complete outdoor projects whilst taking inspiration from the activity of Nature, as she gathers her energy inwards. Our senses and energy are heightened by the dichotomy and blending of bright sunshine and crisp cool weather. The season of Autumn can be a wonderful symbol of growing personal maturity and wisdom, when taking delight in the ripeness of life and nature... so venture outdoors and allow this Season of change to enhance your own personal reflection.

The bright shimmer of the Autumn sunshine with the cool crispness of the air, is what enhances the element and energy of Metal, birthing a state of reflection. This element of Metal... mirrors who we are and reflects what issues within ourselves and our life, need to be resolved. Whilst Autumn is a time of reflection - the deeper purpose for this reflective state is to emphasise... What we need to complete projects (those started in Spring and followed through during the Summer, although unfinished or incomplete), and What we require to resolve personal and relational issues during the contemplative energy of Winter.

So for example, if you have a “To Do List” - now is the time to reflect on that list, and make note of ‘What You Need’ to complete and get things done during the course of Winter - sourcing and acquiring all your needs by the end of Autumn for the start of Winter, (just like a squirrel gathers his food to store for the Winter).

Essentially, if you determined in Spring or the start of Summer to resolve your weight, and yet during Autumn the mirror reflects only dissatisfaction with the image you see, now is the time to Reflect on that image - with honesty, gentleness and compassion, emphasising what deeper core issue underpins your body and weight issues. The Autumn element and energy of Metal, with personal reflection will mirror to you all that you need to resolve your body and weight issues. Whilst, Winter is the time to contemplate the deeper aspects of your personal development and growth, completing projects and simplifying your life and lifestyle, Autumn is a time to reflect on you life acquiring what you need to make Winter contemplation more meaningful.

Autumn can be a challenging time, when the elemental energy of life seems to mirror the harshest image, so take time to reflect and gain a balanced perspective. Remember, life reflects what you most need to learn, providing you with all you need and with the opportunity to resolve your deepest issues, bringing freedom to claim your unlimited potential.
