Attitude, Attention, Absolutely!
If you have resolved to ‘lose weight’ and your attitude to your physical body is one of self-loathing and negativity, then that is the first fundamental issue you need to resolve. Give some attention to what your thoughts and feelings are towards your body. Make notes or keep a dairy of the thoughts you have, how you feel and the things you say about your body!
You need to discover what your attitude is by giving attention to what your thoughts and feelings are, before you can start making any changes. Then you will know if you have a more negative or more positive attitude towards your physical body.
Constant attention is needed to change your thoughts and feelings from negative to positive. Making reminders will help, for example a note on your mirror and fridge door, affirmation cards in your handbag, in your car and on your PC. Print and cutout the Affirmation Card below as a reminder to yourself or make your own affirmation cards!
Affirmations need only be short and simple like: “I love my body” or “I am calm and relaxed”.
Remember, it will take several days of thinking and repeating an affirmation before you feel comfortable with it, so persevere!
Your attitude and desire to have the body your want needs to be absolute, so change your thinking from ‘I want to lose weight’ to ‘I want to have the body I deserve and desire’. If you think about it logically - the first thing you do when you ‘lose’ something, is look for it. If you lose your keys, your cellphone, your handbag, a book.... you spend whatever time you need looking for the thing you have lost. ‘Losing’ weight can have the same effect, especially if you have had the weight you want to ‘lose’ for a long period of time, and feel comfortable with those extra kilo’s.
The ‘body you want’ needs to be as realistic as possible, a body that is complete in itself; whole, healthy and happy! The purpose, the reason why you are doing this needs to be absolute, without doubt, unconditional and unlimited!
